Fundraising helps San Jose Parents Participating Nursery School keep tuition low and fund school improvements, curriculum, field trips, scholarships, and more. Our approach is to offer SJPPNS members a wide range of fun, family-oriented fundraising activities that support the community spirit that is so much a part of the school philosophy. The school hopes that members will attend the fundraising events of their choice because they are fun and support the school. The only mandatory requirement is that each family support the fundraising activities by working a single 2-3 hour work shift at one of the fundraising events.
eScrip
eScrip is a fantastic resource for SJPPNS fundraising. SJPPNS members register any one or all of their existing grocery loyalty, debit, and credit cards for use in the program and participating merchants contribute a percentage of the transactions to SJPPNS, based on purchases made by members, just by using the cards they have registered. Members can also encourage extended family members such as grandparents and aunts and uncles to register their cards. To sign up to participate in eScrip:
- visit www.escrip.com and click on “sign up”,
- designate SJPPNS as the school to receive the contributions (our ID is 137137073),
- register your Safeway Club Cards and your credit or debit cards.
Photo Calendars
Our first fundraising event will begin during the first week of school: a take-home photo calendar! What better way for the kids to learn their classmates’ names than to look at their photos at home, all while raising money for the school. Please plan on submitting a photo whether or not you plan to purchase the calendar. More information to come very soon!
Dining Nights Out (First Wednesday of Every Month)
DNOs are a great way to enjoy local restaurants and support SJPPNS at the same time. Parents will receive flyers in their school mailboxes promoting the event and should present it to the restaurant when dining in OR taking out. SJPPNS will receive a portion of the proceeds from the evening’s receipts.
Fall Festival & Used Book Sale
The annual SJPPNS carnival is the school’s largest family activity and a fantastic, fun way for SJPPNS families to get together on the weekend. Fall Festival attendees can enjoy food, beverages, live entertainment, face painting, a cupcake walk, crafts, a used book sale, and lots of homemade games appropriate for preschoolers. Movie Night
Movie nights will take place at the Willow Glen Baptist Church where the general meetings are held. All families are welcome to attend and watch a kid-friendly, G-rated movie in the company of other preschool friends and families. Concessions will be available for a nominal fee.
Make-A-Plate
Make-A-Plate is an annual event at SJPPNS and will take place during the first two weeks in March. During class, each child will have the opportunity to create artwork for a plate. The parents will then have the option to buy a plate that has been made from their child’s artwork. The plates are a perfect Mother’s Day Gift.
Pancake Breakfast
The pancake breakfast is an annual tradition at SJPPNS for the whole family. Members are charged a nominal fee for a delightful all-you-can-eat breakfast which includes pancakes, sausage, bacon, eggs, and fruit as well as hot and cold beverages. Extended families of SJPPNS members are welcome, so bring the grandparents, aunts, uncles and all the cousins!
Art Auction
The Art Auction is a fantastic adults-only event! This is our largest fundraising event of the year, so mark your calendars now – it’s an evening you don’t want to miss! It is a great time for parents to go out for the night and enjoy a fun night at the school, especially with an open bar set up on the art deck! The children’s artwork will be on display and you can buy for your own child’s work. The silent and live auction also offer lots of great deals from local restaurants, retail outlets, and services. Traditionally, each SJPPNS class puts together a themed gift basket which generate lots of excitement amongst auction bidders. This will be our last event of the year, so we hope to see everyone there!
